Small Animal Anesthesiology

The anesthesia and pain management service in the John and Ann Tickle Small Animal Hospital at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Center provides specialized procedures for dogs and cats undergoing general anesthesia for diagnostic and surgical procedures.

Our team is composed of experienced veterinary anesthesiologists, board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA); anesthesia residents, licensed veterinary technicians, and technicians certified in anesthesia.

We strive to manage pain, both acute and chronic, in our patients through a variety of techniques, including the use of contemporary medications as well as local and regional anesthesia blocks.

Our team provides anesthetic and pain management care to over 2,000 patients each year.
