Background

Dr. Rebecca E. Gompf graduated with her DVM and masters (MS) of veterinary medicine in 1975 from The Ohio State University. She did her rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City from 1975-1976, followed by a cardiology residency at the University of California at Davis from 1976-1978. In 1980, Dr. Gompf passed her cardiology certifying exam (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Cardiology) and became a board-certified cardiologist (DACVIM). Gompf has been a cardiologist at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine since 1978 and has taught cardiology to students in every class that has graduated from the college. She has trained interns and residents in cardiology, medicine, and radiology. She serves as the secretary of ACVIM (Cardiology) and is on the Certifying Exam Rating Committee. Gompf also serves on numerous college and university committees and is chairperson of the Knox County Board of Health Advisory Committee.
