Dr. Sophy Jesty graduated with her DVM from Cornell University in 2001. From 2001-2003, she was a fellow in large animal cardiology at New Bolton Center, University of Pennsylvania. From 2003-2005, she did her large animal internal medicine residency at New Bolton Center and passed her certifying exam in 2006 (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Large Animal Internal Medicine) to become a board-certified large animal internist (DACVIM). From 2005-2008, she did her cardiology residency at Cornell University and passed her cardiology certifying exam in 2008 (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Cardiology) to become a board-certified cardiologist (DACVIM). From 2008-2010, Dr. Jesty worked as a fellow in cardiac regenerative medicine at Cornell University. From 2010-2011, she worked as the staff cardiologist and medical director at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists in New York City. In 2011, she joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jesty is an associate editor and copy editor for the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology and has successfully trained students, interns, and residents at the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, and the University of Tennessee. Dr. Jesty has a special interest in equine cardiology and evaluation of the heart during exercise. She also is very interested in interventional cardiology and regenerative medicine.
