Charles (Chad) Lothamer, DVM, DAVDC

Clinical Assistant Professor of Dentistry | Small Animal Clinical Sciences
Overview

Dr. Lothamer graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After graduation, he practiced in a small animal clinic in the town of Brevard, North Carolina for six years before deciding that veterinary dentistry was his calling and returned to academia to pursue specialized training in dentistry and oral surgery. From 2012 through 2015 he completed a residency program in dentistry and oral surgery at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Lothamer has worked as an assistant professor of dentistry and oral surgery at Colorado State University and the University of Minnesota before taking advantage of the opportunity to return to his Alma mater, the University of Tennessee in the fall of 2019. Dr. Lothamer’s interests are in educating veterinary students and general practitioners so that they are comfortable with dentistry and oral surgery. Dr. Lothamer’s research interests are rooted in helping clinicians to make informed decisions regarding treatment and include jaw fracture management and endodontic therapies.
