Originally from Moscow, Russia, Dr. Smrkovski has been glad to call Knoxville, TN her home for the last 15 years. An alumnus of the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2005), she is dedicated to promoting the college’s excellence in student education, clinical patient service, and research. Her family includes three four-legged children: a basset hound, a hound mix, and a cat.

Research Focus

Rapamycin (Sirolimus) in metronomic chemotherapy protocols for canine hemangiosarcoma and osteosarcoma; The role of masitinib mesylate (Kinavetâ„¢)

Clinical Focus

Localized hyperthermia for palliative treatment of solid tumors in conjunction with radiation therapy and chemotherapy; Canine and feline lymphoma – optimizing existing therapies and developing new treatment approaches
