Linden Craig, DVM, PhD, DACVP

Clinical Professor of Anatomic Pathology | Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences

Specialization: Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology (Anatomic)

Overview

Dr. Craig spent 3 years in small animal practice before seeing the light and turning to the dark side (pathology). After completing her comparative pathology training and PhD at Johns Hopkins, she taught pathology at University of Pennsylvania for 4 years (too cold, and not just the weather). She has been teaching pathology to veterinary students and residents at University of Tennessee since 2001, and she still LOVES it. She also loves making diagnoses on cool cases (on biopsy and necropsy service) and publishing occasional papers on topics that interest her. She also loves mentoring students and residents as they prepare their first publications. Dr. Craig hopes that her own contributions to pathology are only a tiny sliver compared to those made by the students and residents she has taught.

Research Focus

Dr. Craig has a strong interest in bone and joint pathology, as well as pathology of non-domestic species.

Clinical Focus

As an anatomic pathologist with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Craig works hard to keep up with the pathology literature in order to be the best diagnostician she can.

Teaching Focus

Coordinator for General Pathology; Teaches in the Microanatomy, Multispecies Medicine, Cardiovascular, and Surgical Pathology electives. Dr. Craig loves teaching on the necropsy floor and over the multiheaded microscope.

Outreach Focus

Through the Davis Thompson Foundation, she has taught veterinary pathology worldwide; Created the Current Literature and Image Interpretation Course, taught in Knoxville for anatomic pathology residents worldwide.
