Welcome to Immunohistochemistry. A valuable diagnostic service available through the Diagnostic Services Branch of the
Biomedical and Diagnostic Services Department at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee. The
lab is capable of performing Immunohistochemistry on tissue paraffin blocks or unstained sections mounted of positively
charged slides. This service can be utilized to further confirm a diagnosis made elsewhere or we can process
the surgical biopsy material and pursue the additional stains here at UT.
The majority of our antibodies are for characterizing and confirming neoplastic processes. We currently offer
a full panel for differentiation of sarcomas and round cell tumors in the dog and the cat, with fewer antibodies
routinely available for the horse and the pig. We continue to expand our immunohistochemistry availability of our
species panels as need arises.
