Swetha Madesh presented at the Meeting of the American Society for Rickettsiology 2025 in Asheville, North Carolina. This conference of professionals gathers annually to address questions pertaining to rickettsial pathogenesis, with this year’s emphasis on emerging approaches and concepts pertaining to rickettsial bacteria and the relationship to both arthropod and vertebrate hosts.

Swetha presented her poster “A Pilot Study to Characterize Immunogenic Proteins from Ehrlichia canis and Anaplasma platys” exploring the genetic similarities of both pathogens and the initial steps towards a proposed cross-protective vaccine. Swetha also presented “Trends and Advances in Ehrlichia and Anaplasma Vaccine Research: A Bibliometric Review“, highlighting historical research as well as areas of interest moving forward.
