What is Phi Zeta Research Day?
Phi Zeta Research Day was founded by the University’s Comparative and Experimental Medicine graduate program in 2007.
The goals of Phi Zeta Research Day are as follows:
- Provide a venue for students and new investigators to gain experience showcasing their work as oral presentations.
- Gather UTCVM investigators with related and varying interests to provide opportunities for the creation of new ideas, collaborations, and networking that will enhance health-related research.​
When is Phi Zeta Research Day?
Phi Zeta Research Day will be held on Wednesday, September 15th, 2027 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Graduate Student 15-Minute Oral Presentation Category (14 competitors):
- 1st Place – Dr. Katrijn Whisenant, Comparative & Experimental Medicine PhD Student
- 2nd Place – Eli Christoph, Comparative & Experimental Medicine PhD Student
- 3rd Place (tied) Howard Onyuth, Comparative & Experimental Medicine PhD Student
- 3rd Place (tied) – Dr. Lyndsee Miniard, Comparative & Experimental Medicine Dual MS Student & Resident
Dual DVM-MS Student 15-Minute Oral Presentation Category (8 competitors):
- 1st Place – Laura Crispell, Dual DVM-MS Student from the Class of 2030
- 2nd Place (tied) – Caroline Mrsan, Dual DVM-MS Student from the Class of 2029
- 2nd Place (tied) – Dr. Lindsey Rice, Dual DVM-MS Student from the Class of 2026
Veterinary Student “Five Minute Findings” Oral Presentation Category (23 competitors):
- 1st Place – Grace Bates, Class of 2028
