Dr. Paul Nolen

Dr. N. Paul Nolen

Dr. Norman Paul Nolen II was born December 27, 1983 in Frankfurt, Germany. A graduate of Central High School, Memphis, TN, Paul received a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, AL. In 2010, Paul received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) and achieved his lifelong dream to become a veterinarian. At the time of his death, Paul was completing specialty training in laboratory animal medicine at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Paul was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Paul’s survivors include, his father, Norman Nolen, a sister, Leshundra Robinson, two nephews, and a niece.


Dr. Aniela Nelson

Dr. Aniela Nelson

Dr. Aneila Nelson was born August 18th, 1984 in Birmingham AL. While in middle school she moved to Omaha, NE. From a very young age Aniela talked of wanting to be a veterinarian. She volunteered at the Nebraska Humane Society while in undergrad. In the summer of 2005, Aniela and her husband, Andrew, visited the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. After their visit, she decided she wanted to move to Knoxville and apply only to Tennessee’s veterinary school. So in 2006, Aniela and her husband moved to Knoxville. She applied in 2008 and was accepted. She graduated in 2012 and 4 short days later she and Andrew moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. At the time of her death, Aniela was completing her anatomic pathology residency at the University of Minnesota. Aniela’s survivors include: her husband, Andrew, mother, Carol Erkens, father, Jim Metro and four siblings.
