Research Summary
Within the Infectious Disease and Animal Endocrinology (IDEA) program, research is focused on neurophysiology and reproductive neuroendocrinology, especially of livestock. The research focus is aimed at determining ways in which animal reproduction may be improved by studying the physiology of an important group of neurons [kisspeptin-neurokinin-dynorphin (KNDy) neurons] in the brain. Of particular interest is understanding how stressors, like inflammation, negatively effect reproduction through effects on the KNDy neurons.
