Please read all application instructions carefully before proceeding with the registration link (available when registration opens). All responses must be printed or typed. Illegible or incomplete applications will not be processed or reviewed. To prepare for the application, you may preview the application and essay questions using the sample application.

Ensure that you meet all eligibility requirements. No exceptions will be made. Students who do not meet the criteria should not apply. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Legal residency in Tennessee and enrollment in a Tennessee high school or homeschooling program
  • Current high school junior or senior at the time of application
  • At least 16 years of age by June 1, 2025
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Availability for full participation (40 hours/week) from June 9 – July 11, 2025
  • No previous participation in the Veterinary Summer Experience Program
  • Confirmation of a local veterinary practice site by April 28, 2025 (*all practice sites must be approved by UTCVM)

The application must be completed in one sitting as it cannot be saved and continued later. Paper applications will not be accepted or reviewed. Answer all questions thoroughly and truthfully; incomplete applications will not be evaluated. Once submitted, you will receive a Submission Verification Form via email. This form must be printed, completed, and mailed with your letters of recommendation and transcript to the address below.

Applicants must obtain three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with their character, abilities, and potential (e.g., teachers, guidance counselors, or veterinarians). Letters must be from non-relatives and sealed in an envelope. They must be mailed along with your Submission Verification Form and transcript. Recommendation letters sent separately will not be considered and will result in an incomplete application.

Submit an official high school transcript, signed by a school official. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted. The transcript must be mailed along with your Submission Verification Form and letters of recommendation.
