The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville offers an innovative continuing education program to the practitioner.  The Visiting Practitioner Program provides the practitioner the opportunity to participate in the daily clinical operation and teaching programs of the Veterinary Medical Center.  Participation in this program is observation ONLY (no hands-on training) in clinical rotations including internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, behavior, dermatology, cardiology (no echo training), neurology, radiology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology and critical care is available. Another option is to spend an hour with the veterinary librarian to find out about new, free services of particular utility to practitioners. The practitioner may also attend the regularly scheduled seminars, journal clubs, CPCs, and faculty and student rounds​.
