Some TLC for the College

Construction of the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) at the veterinary college has been slow and steady thanks to the challenging weather. There will be lane closures on Joe Johnson Drive between River Drive and Chapman Drive to accommodate the construction.  The anticipated completion of the TLC is early spring 2022.

In October, the UT College of Veterinary Medicine broke ground for the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), a project made possible by the State of Tennessee and philanthropic gifts from John and Ann Tickle.

The architects and university planning committees have worked hard to create an iconic addition to the college, which will contain a simulation laboratory, 125-seat lecture theater, and new laboratory space.

The TLC will enhance the college’s educational and interactive environment and support students’ professional and personal growth. The simulation laboratory is an innovative teaching tool that offers students the opportunity to become proficient and confident in performing technical skills before and during their clinical years’ experiences. A story that appeared in the most recent issue of VOLVetVision, the college’s magazine, explains more about how simulation learning works.
