Research Topics
Our molecular researchers work on elucidating the role of immune dysfunction in the pathology of diseases affecting companion animals, farm animals, and humans.
Research Summary
The Molecular Research Program studies cytokine production, leucocidin mediated cellular destruction, regulators of the immune systems, neuralization of the humoral immune system by infectious organisms,Toxoplasma, Histomonas meleagridis and Trichomonas spp., Parelaphostrongylus tenius and Elaeophora schneideri, bear health, meso-mammal health and diseases, and wild turkey health and diseases. Program members have developed methods to overcome immune dysfunction including small molecule inhibitors and recombinant protein vaccines.
