General Information
The Clinical Virology & Immunology (V/I) Laboratory offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic services, including routine serological tests such as the Equine Infectious Anemia Routine AGID and ELISA formats (commonly known as the Coggins test). In addition to serological testing, we provide molecular testing and diagnostic panels for both domestic and non-domestic species. Our laboratory staff comprises four highly trained personnel with extensive experience in industry, academia, and research standards.
We operate state-of-the-art instrumentation maintained according to stringent standard operating procedures (SOPs). To ensure the accuracy and reliability of patient data, we implement daily quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures. These measures are critical for maintaining the integrity of our diagnostic results. Additionally, our lab is laying the groundwork for QA/QC management in preparation for joining the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) in 2026. We are also participating in National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) certifications to provide enhanced quality assurance options for our clients, producers, and stakeholders.
Our lab actively engages in regular research projects both internally and externally. These projects focus on diagnostic improvements to industry standards as well as novel research in the fields of immunology, virology, and One Health. This ongoing research helps us stay at the forefront of scientific advancements and enhances our diagnostic capabilities.
Furthermore, our laboratory participates in annual biosafety inspections and training sessions to uphold the highest safety standards. We also comply with USDA regulations for applicable testing procedures, ensuring that our practices meet national standards for veterinary diagnostics. This commitment to excellence allows us to provide reliable and accurate diagnostic services to support animal health and welfare.
