The anesthesia and pain management service in the Farm Animal Hospital at the UT Veterinary Medical Center strives to manage animals’ pain through a variety of techniques using medications as well as acupuncture.

Our anesthesiology team provides specialized anesthetic procedures for a variety of farm animals including bovines, camelids, sheep, pigs, and goats undergoing general anesthesia for diagnostic or surgical procedures. Our anesthesiologists, board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA), also work with our clinicians and clients to help control and manage acute and chronic pain in animals.

The expertise of our anesthesiologists and the availability of sophisticated monitoring equipment, assisted-ventilation machines, and the safest anesthetic medications available, minimize risks associated with general anesthesia.
